ACHTUNG TDM 900Fahrer

Beitragvon OliS » 20.07.2002 17:50

Hi Jungs,

Also:
------------------------------
maybe this is old news for you but anyway :

YAMAHA replaces factory-faulty ECU units on 900 under warranty!
Two of Carpe TDM members confirm this. Just have your Yam dealer contact the importer.

There is a rumor that it is only for the frame n. 2435 and below.

Well to say I was shocked was an understatement, after a short call to Yamaha UK the part (new ECU) is on order and will be fitted under warranty
BIG THANKS to all

Yamaha certainly have stopped arguing - mine was changed yesterday - I am very very happy with it in traffic, I don't ride it like an automatic, but it has lost that vicious edge that I enjoyed. That instant throttle response that gave me some exciting moments like .... whooah nearly went into the back of that one.... have gone to be replaced by wow this is really smooth. Maybe my next tyre will do more than 3,500 miles. So well done Yamaha but could you respond a little more quickly next time.
My thanks alos go to those who got the ball rolling and kept Carpe TDM informed of progress... as we say-'A result'

Und weiter gehts,
anscheinend reden die hier über die Einstellungen in der Einspritzelektronic wegen Gasannahme.

Wen's betrifft oder interessiert:

Hi to everybody, my name is Davide artioli and I'm a member from TDM Italia mailing list, nonetheless a TDM 900 owner, you can check my credentials even in Carpe TDM forum. Following a posting between me and a Carpe TDM member (check there the ECU thread) about troubles on first 900 models, (where finally Yam accorded the ECu substitution on frame <2436), we are actually desperately looking for infos about the diag menu and Co settings via display. Have you some infos regarding that procedure? Any help would be appreciated.

Thank for your attention

bye

Ok gimme time for translate (late in the afternoon) the pair of message about it, but we actually haven't yet catched the meaning of all there's a big questioning going on among ourselves about the confusing jungle of parameters... basically our attention are pointed on two little stupid values C1 & C2... My scope isn't to push up the power, or waste the environment, but often dealers don't check at all these "little" things...

By the way, after the ECU substitution one of us scanned all the mechanician's actions for set the right mixture air/gas and Co:

Turn the key on while you keep depressed both the button Select (S) and Reset (R) for 5 sec.
"diag" appear on the display
Press S display Co menu (actually we think you can set the amount/percent of the minimun mix)
press S+R display C1
press S+R diplay C1 value
now for set the values push S for + e R for -
press S+R return to diplay C1
press select for display C2
repeat steps above for set the values
once done turn off the key

One TDM Mailing List has C1 12 & C2 12
another C1 11 & C2 -2!
mine reports C1 6 & C2 11

We guess these C1 C2 could be like those little "ancient" screws for carb's air regulations. The TDM is a very "polite" motorbike about the environmental emissions, Yam obtained this working hardly on the Co, hence for avoid to break out Euro2 rules the mech. said :-don't change more than one step and keep the same interval between the values.- i.e.: the guy with 11 -2 moved to 12 -1 (just a little richer mix) and, according to him, the motorbike is smoother in the on-off phase...

Because these infos need yet to be confimed, pay attention to make some mistake (in the meantime you can check your values), even I don't know if is worth to change setting, evaluate if this suggestions are useful to the carpe diem community, or maybe are too technical and still too rough for gain attention....

P.s.: It would be really worth to catch a "workshop manual", anyone out there has a contact...?
